‘Janed Gold’ is a cultivated variety of our native American Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis). It was selected for its vibrant golden yellow foliage, which it maintains throughout the year, even through the cold winter months. It has a tight, upright columnar form that grows at a modest rate, which is able to reach 8' tall by 4' wide in the first 10 years. This is a low-maintenance plant that requires no pruning, though it does take shearing well if a more manicured appearance is desired. ‘Janed Gold’ is a colorful, evergreen addition to foundation plantings, shrub and perennial borders, and will even tolerate being in a container if it is provided with enough water.
