Helenium flexuosum (Purple Headed Helen's Flower) - 2 gal
Purple Headed Helen's Flower
Bright yellow reflexed petals form a "skirt" under round brown cones from mid to late summer. It is recommended to cut back foliage in early summer to increase strength of stems and increase blooms. Host to 5 species of Lepidoptera as well as an excellent nectar source for butterflies, flies and several species of native bees. Deer generally do not find its foliage appetizing. Average to wet soils and tolerant of brief periods of flooding. Helen's Flower is not drought tolerant.
